Do we need Visual Studio 2008 to install DTLoggedExec ?

Hi 

I tried to execute the .exe file in the \DTLoggedExec\bin\Any\Release. it gives a error screen. Do I need Visual Studio 2008 to install this ?

Hi Vishan

No, you don’t need VS 2008 to use DTLoggedExec.

If you want to use it with SQL Server 2008/2008 R2 you just have to use the correct .manifest file. You can read how to do it here:

Thanks for the guidance. Followed the steps and could get these done
1. execute the package from the command prompt
2. Created the database by using the create db script
But, I could not get a understanding on how to use the tool on a whole. What is the next step ?
How to profile the ssis package and get the profile data loaded into the database ?

Otherwise you should be a little more precise on the problem you have, or it will be difficoult to help you fro me:)

To import the profiled dataflow data you can read here:
To import the log, you just have to execute the "import_log" batch available in the Log folder, passing the .dtsCSVLog file you want to import.
