New Post: Does this Application require DTexec.exe ?

Hello, curious if this EXE application requires the installation of the DTS\Binn\DTexec.exe or DTexecUI.exe on the host box? If not does it require installation of ANY of the "SQL Server components" on the machine which will execute DTloggedExec?

I am trying to run SSIS package from Application server which provides scheduler, and have been told DTexec.exe requires separate license for SQL Server (Standard or Enterprise) on the Application server box.

I hope since you are using an API interface, these actions require only a properly licensed SQL Server on the other end of the connection.

Yes if its posible to setup SSIS 2012 so it can make some good logging like DTLoggedExec I would like to know or have a link to some documentation.... Because I'm really missing my DTLoggedExec (that I have used on SQL 2008 R2) on my new DW on SQL 2012 ;-)

Hello, manowar I'm trying to run a DTSX package on a SSIS 2012 64 bit machine running it with dtexec.exe /FILE "D:\MAIN.dtsx" /CONFIGFILE "D:\Import.dtsConfig" /MAXCONCURRENT " -1 " /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING EWCDI > Log_DTEXEC.txt, this package fails and in Log_DTEXEC.txt there is the following error Description: The SSIS logging provider has failed to open the log. Error code: 0x80070003.

I'd like to better investigate this error with a tool like DTLoggedExec but it seems to be not supported, you suggest that SQLSERVER 2012 contains new feature can explain how to use this feature to identify the problem?

Hi Radim

Currently, there are no plans to port DTLoggedExec to SQL Server 2012 since the changes introduced with this release of Integration Services offers the same features the DTLoggedExec offers, and more.

Just downloaded DTLoggedExec and since i am quite new to it , i have been following the step by step guide in the index . I have now tried to create the database (turned on SQLCMD) but and i am getting an error saying "fatal scripting error occured ; Variable Databasename is not defined".... I really do not want to add anything to your script which is why i am asking. thanks

I've got a problem by loading the Logging Information from the dtsCSVLog File to the database.

The error is:

ERROR FOUND: Cannot fetch a row from OLE DB provider "BULK" for linked server "(null)".

We looked at the dtsCSVLog File and found a row, without it, it works and with it I get the error.

It lookf like this:

I replaced in these example the variable names and values with dots, normally we also have long string values.

I also tested if I delete a part of the variables in the line then it works, then I can load the data.

So could it be that there is a maximum lenght to load data in the column variable?

Are has somebody another idea what's going wrong?

On your webpage http://dtloggedexec.davidemauri.it/How%20to%20use%20DTLoggedExec.ashx it mentions a "For_SQL_Server_2008_Compatibility.zip" but I didn't see that in my download (I downloaded both DTLoggedExec_v.1.1.2008.4.zip and DTLoggedExec_v.1.1.2008.4_w_SP1.zip)

We have a DW load job that uses DTLoggedExec and since day one, it will appear to purge history any agent job when it first runs.

Our command line is this

D:\DTLoggedExec\DTLoggedExec\bin\Any\Release\DTLoggedExec.exe /SQL:"/ourservenameremoved/Load_DW_IP6_1_Processes" /LE:E,I,POE,POV,PRE,PREV,P,T,W /PDF /PP:"D:\DTLoggedExec\DataFlowProfile" /PFN:"D:\SSISLogs\LoadDWIP61Processes-{date}-{time}"

Any thoughts? what am I doing wrong?

thank you for your answer, no wonder that I did not find this property anyware.

I do not want to turn off the sysssislog becaue some other packages will still use that and the dba's in my company do not jump on big changes like this :-). I was thinking about using the executioninstanceGUID as a metatag on my warehouse data, and then it would be great to have the same GUID all over, If it can not be the same value everyware I think I will rather use big int for my metatag.

Yes, the reason is that, AFAIK, the ExecutionInstanceGUID is exposed only as a System Variable and it is not a property of any internal objects that I can access using the SSIS API. My guess is that also DTExec generates it at runtime and add it to the system variables.

Why do you need to use sysssislog table? You can have all that information (and much more) using DTLoggedExec's CSV Log Provider :)

Hello everybody,

it seems I have equal problems. I have a folder wiht about 100 xls-files, which are filled with different data which should be extracted into the database. The extraction should be done with a subpackge for each xls-file. But if I run the masterpackage. The subpackage will be executed for every xls file. But after a while (for example, after 16 xls-files) the masterpackage quits with an unknown error or the masterpackage quits with a success-message but has not executed the subpackage for all xls-files.

If I make the package out of process, like SimoneZ wrote before, the package will execute the subpackage for all xls-files. But these takes very long and has a big negative influence on the performance.

Can anybody help me with this problem? I am looking forward to your answers.

Is there any reason why dtloggedExec is not using the system variable from SSIS ExecutionInstanceGUID to populate the [DTLoggedExecDB].[dbo].[package_executions].[execution_guid]?

to me it look like the dtloggedexec just creates it own value but it would be so great to be able to connect to the sysssislog with this guid. And I was planning on using that as a metatag on the data as well.

So, in brief, you're raising a Custom Event? Or you're just firing an Error event?

Once this event is fired you need DTLoggedExec to send an email, is that right?
